Kids Night Out—Friday January 12

Join us as we go to the movie theater to see “The Star”. More details will be coming when it gets closer. You will need to pay for your own movie and parents/guardian must attend with you.

Sunday, January 14 we will be having a potluck and sharing the history of Faith Lutheran Church with Joan Johanson following worship and the Constitution meeting. We plan on having hot and cold sandwiches and beverages provided and ask those attending to bring a potluck dish to share. There will be a sign up sheet at the welcome desk if you are planning to attend. We’d like to know soon so we know how much food to order. Please contact Penny Larson, Director, Bd. of Parish Organizations, if you have questions.

January 14 History Event with Joan Johanson: As a follow-up to the fall congregation conversations, Joan will lead members of Faith in a History Event after worship on Sunday, January 14. (The vote for updating the constitution will likely require little time.) Lunch will be served as part of the event. A History Event can help members of a congregation gain more understanding of what makes the congregation be what it is. Together, we will take note of the situations, struggles and joys of the congregation’s various eras (usually the ministry periods of the various lead-pastors.) The notes taken during the History Event will generate another helpful report that can be part of the accumulating reports of this interim period. If wanted, another follow-up event can be scheduled to complete the history conversation or to consider specific issues that are raised. These events are usually quite fun, insightful, surprising, educational, supportive, and helpful as a congregation moves toward the next era of its life. Join Us!!

The Hands on Mission Committee is planning a mission trip to Beaumont, TX from February 3-11, 2018. This will be an opportunity to serve those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We plan to stay at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beaumont, TX or in hotels.  Three people from our congregation/committee will already be in Beaumont since they go there each winter and have been attending that congregation. There will be a person from FEMA coordinating the work projects. It's an opportunity to help others and escape winter's cold for a few days. We'd like to know soon if people are interested so we can begin planning more details. A sign up sheet is at the welcome desk. Please contact Penny Larson, Cheryl Domrath or Nicolle Behnke if you have more questions. We'd like to see this trip materialize!

Please Note: There will no longer be televised worship of our weekly church service on Channel 20 in Manitowoc. They have discontinued broadcasting it.

Please tune into WOMT, WGBA, or WBAY for ALL cancelations…Faith Lutheran will follow the Valders Public School District’s policy regarding closings, cancellations, etc. SO...If schools are closed…FAITH LUTHERAN is closed (church & office) no activities, worship, etc. If they dismiss classes early or cancel after school activities, FLC also cancels evening activities BUT MAY NOT CANCEL WORSHIP. No need to wonder, no need to get all bundled up.  Simply put- stay put!  What about Sundays?  If the worship service needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather, it will be announced ASAP.
